Leadership Development Program

**Please see right for forthcoming Regional Leadership Program Information Session - Carnarvon**

Leadership Western Australia offers Western Australia’s premier community leadership program. With its long term objective of creating a network of competent leaders who are well informed about the major challenges for Western Australia, the leadership program aims to enhance community and personal leadership capacity within the state.

Through their participation in the leadership program, participants are encouraged to:
• Enhance their own leadership through exposure to highly experienced leaders from across the community,
• Be imaginative and informed about the future of Western Australia and its challenges,
• Establish a network of leaders across different sectors to assist them in their corporate and community work,
• Understand and accept divergent views and values, and embrace diversity.

As an experiential leadership development program, the structure is based on a part time, year long sequence of sessions, events and activities. Attendance and active involvement in all activities, including retreats, field trips and site visits are mandatory for all participants. Approximately 35 participants, who are high potential leaders within their existing environment, are selected from a range of sectors and must have support from their employers, as well as a commitment to increase their level of community involvement after they complete the leadership program.

The leadership program has a state wide focus and is continuously evaluated. Each year, over 100 established and influential leaders contribute their time on a pro bono basis to the leadership program. Those who participate and complete the leadership program become Fellows of Leadership Western Australia and make a commitment to increase their level of community involvement for the benefit of the state. At the end of 2009, there are 175 Fellows of Leadership WA.
