 About Leadership Western Australia
Leadership Western Australia is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that facilitates leadership enhancement opportunities for high potential leaders. Leadership Western Australia balances individual development with public spirited, community involvement for the benefit of Western Australia. Leadership Western Australia has a vision of enhancing leadership excellence across the state and is committed to:
• Ethical leadership,
• Accepting the challenges of change,
• Respect for diversity, and
• Community service.
The Governor, His Excellency Dr Ken Michael AC, is Leadership Western Australia’s Patron and the Premier of Western Australia and the Leader of the Opposition are its Vice Patrons.
Leadership Western Australia was registered in Western Australia on the 11th July 2003, under the Corporations Act (2001). Since inception in 2003, it has received generous support from several corporate partners and sponsors, including support from its Foundation Partner, the Rio Tinto Western Australia Future Fund. The support received from corporate partners and sponsors has allowed Leadership Western Australia to establish its leadership program, taking its first cohort of leaders in 2004, and to commence the Leadership Skillsbank initiative in 2005.
The Board of Leadership Western Australia consists of influential leaders who contribute on a pro-bono basis to the strategic direction of Leadership Western Australia. Both inaugural Board members, who were responsible for the inception of Leadership Western Australia, and current Board members are detailed later in this yearbook.
Dr Sue van Leeuwen is the CEO and Company Director. Other Leadership Western Australia staff are Ms Julie Davies, Office Manager and Mr Peter Bowler, Manager Skillsbank and Alumni Relations.
