Mr Jon Sutton, Managing Director, Bankwest

Jon Sutton, Managing Director, joined Bankwest in December of 2008 from the Commonwealth Bank, where he had been Executive General Manager of Commonwealth Bank Agribusiness and a senior executive for 17 years.

Jon’s strategic imperative has focused on driving a new direction for Bankwest, building on the Bank’s commitment to the Western Australian community, whilst maintaining its challenger status on the East Coast. As a leader, Jon is committed to driving innovation, sustained growth and enhancing customer satisfaction across the business.

During his time at the Commonwealth Bank, Jon was central to the establishment of the Bank’s Corporate Agribusiness. Through a clear strategy based on customer segmentation, he was able to drive profitability and competitiveness in the markets fastest growing sector.

Jon’s other financial sector roles included; GM of Client Risk Solutions responsible for marketing derivative products including; interest rates, commodities and foreign exchange. Head of Resources and Agribusiness and Head of Corporate Risk Management Commodities charged with marketing and commodity hedging products to Australian institutions within the base metals, precious metals and energy sectors.

He was also responsible for key staff development initiates within the Commonwealth Bank including the Agribusiness Graduate Programme and colleague mentoring.

Jon has a Board Directorship with Leadership WA, a not for profit organisation that facilitates leadership enhancement opportunities for high potential leaders. He is also an Associate member of FINSIA.
